TWO of the Isle of Wight’s best unsigned acts will be coming to one Southampton venue this weekend for two separate gigs at the city’s Alexandra Beer Emporium.

First up are BullyBones, a high tempo full of energy garage/rock n roll band who have just released their third album, HoneyDripper. They’ve been dubbed the most exciting unsigned live act in the UK by LouderThanWar and visit the Alex on Friday as part of the Free Music Friday nights. Supporting them will be Hampshire act Clues whose appearance coincides with the release of their current EP.

On Saturday, it’s the turn of Island hip-hop outfit Born In A Barn to grace the Alex stage. Popular at festivals from Bestival to BoomTown, Born in a Barn fuse hip-hop with reggae, ska, blues, jazz and pretty much any other genre that they feel like mixing in. With almost 250,000 views on their YouTube channel, it will be a rare chance to catch them in an intimate venue. Support on Saturday comes from Basement83, a six piece Southampton based act who play everything from ‘hip-hop’ to ‘pigeon shuffle’. Entry on Saturday is £2.
