PAY homage to Britain's great monarchs in an evening of atmospheric music from Southampton Choral Society.

The Society's next concert, at St James Church in West End on Saturday, will showcase a mix of choral music through the centuries, both happy and sad, which was written by and for monarchs from the 16th to 20th centuries.

They come from composers such as Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, Purcell, and more recently Handel (Zadok the Priest), Sir Hubert Parry (I was Glad), and William Walton ( Coronation Te Deum) which was composed for Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation.

Guaranteed to set the rafters ringing, organisers promise an evening of spine-tingling music making, some gentle some boisterous.
