THEY really are the hottest jazz band in town and they are roaring back to Hampshire.

It was three years ago that The Bratislava Hot Serenaders chose Eastleigh’s Concorde Club as part of their UK debut tour.

They were such a huge hit that they will be back at the Stoneham Lane club on Sunday with their sensational sounds from the 20s and 30s.

The 19 piece Bratislava Hot Serenaders has an enormous following across Europe.

And the sizzling Slovakian band includes multi-reed players, three violins and the Serenaders Sisters’ singing trio.

They are led by brilliant trumpet player Juraj Bartos and their musical menu includes work from Paul Whiteman, Duke Ellington, early Basie and famous British bands like Jack Hylton and Carroll Gibbons.

The vintage orchestra are one of a small number of niche musical ensembles on the Slovak music scene. Since they were formed in 1992 there have been hardly any changes to their set up.

They devote all their spare time to their passion for a unique brand of music.

Their music travelled to Europe from the United States at the end of the 90s and is referred to as Hot Jazz or Sweet and Dance Music.

Thanks to the booming gramophone business in 1920s America, the Serenaders have developed an ardent passion for collecting and listening to old authentic recordings.

And they stay up till late at night to compile note for note arrangements.

After hours of practising out come the special vintage outfits and Brylcreem and off they go to play authentic instruments and sing for an ever burgeoning audience.
