WINCHESTER music lovers have been enjoying free classical concerts throughout the summer – and it’s not too late to get in on the act for autumn.
The cathedral’s lunchtime concert series encourages locals and visitors alike to spend around 50 minutes relaxing in the company of high calibre singers and instrumentalists performing a broad spectrum of music on a wide variety of instruments.
Concerts take place at 1pm every Tuesday until early October. Tickets are not required.
Next week sees local opera professionals Claire Rutter (soprano) and Stephen Gadd (baritone) team up with pianist Paul Turner for a recital that will include Richard Strauss’s Four Last Songs.
The final concert of the series on October 11 promises a programme to savour in the shape of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons performed and directed by David Juritz.
Find details at winchester-cathedral.org.uk. All concerts are free to attend with donations to help defray costs greatly appreciated.
