SOUTHAMPTON Jazz Club is launching its new season by welcoming Danish guitarist, composer and bandleader Kristian Borring,

Part of a national tour with his quartet, Kristian will be promoting his superb new CD Silent Storm at The Talking Heads in the city’s Polygon on Tuesday.

The club’s booking manager Andy Iles says: “For the club date they are adding vibraphonist Ralph Wyld, who has a strong fan base in Southampton due to a recent appearance here.”

Drummer Jon Scott is one of the most creative and flexible young players on the UK and European jazz scene.

At piano will be Arthur Lea, who has been hammering the honky tonks since his hands could first reach the keys.

Bass player Mick Coady plays with leading musicians on the UK and international jazz scene.

Wherever he performs Kristian gets glowing reviews and a leading jazz magazine has described him as a highly accomplished guitarist and composer.

He studied jazz guitar at Conservatorium Van Amsterdam and London’s Guildhall School of Music.

Kristian has in recent years worked and performed in the United Kingdom and Europe with a great variety of groups and performers including Ray Quinn, Salena Jones and The Puppini Sisters.

Meanwhile Andy Iles is urging jazz lovers young and old to check out the Southampton Jazz Club’s new programme.
