THE historic venue of St Thomas & All Saints Church in Lymington will provide the backdrop for the BSO’s String Serenade concert tomorrow night.

The concert, part of a pre-season tour, will feature a programme of sumptuous string writing from Mozart, Vaughan Williams, Elgar, Barber and Dvo?àk, with BSO Leader Amyn Merchant directing from the violin.

From Mozart’s joyous and energetic Eine kleine Nachtmusik, to Vaughan Williams’ sweeping melodies in Dives and Lazarus and the heart-wrenching beauty of Barber’s Adagio, the full emotive possibilities of string music will be explored by the BSO Strings.

The String Serenade series of concerts promise to be magical occasions, providing the opportunity to experience more intimate performances by the BSO Strings, enabling the Orchestra to perform in venues not large enough to hold a full-size symphony orchestra
