IT'S just about the best Jimi Hendrix tribute show you will see - for a reason. It features his little brother!

Jimi's younger brother Leon, the artistic author, singer and songwriter, joins the tribute band Are You Experienced? to celebrate 50 years since the celebrated American rocker arrived in the UK.

They take to the stage at The Brook in Southampton tomorrow night.

"You get the real Hendrix vibe," Leon tells me from the Birmingham home of bandmate John Campbell where he is staying while they record a new album and rehearse for a series of dates around the UK.

"Jimi's spirit is so strong here in the UK and when his spirit calls I come. I don't have any reservations about it, it's part of my make up and wherever Jimi tells me to go, I go. He's always watching over me.

"I love these intimate venues and I love the way the crowd respond when I talk to them person to person and tell them about our lives.

"When we do Voodoo Child, the atmosphere is electric."

Although his mainstream careers spanned only four years before his untimely death at the age of 27 shortly after his Isle of Wight Festival appearance in 1970, Jimi Hendrix is still considered one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century.

Fans can enjoy all his biggest hits, including Purple Haze, Hey Joe and All Along The Watchtower in a show which incorporates song with interactive moments where Leon will recall childhood memories, and answer questions about his big brother Jimi, their childhood days in Seattle, and musical influences that shaped Jimi in his early life.

Tickets for the show are available from the box office on 023 8055 5366 or the-brook.com
