ISLE of Wight born Jazz vocalist Edana Minghella brings her intensely moving vocal style to Hampshire next month.

The show - Songs of Love and Longing, will be in the intimate setting of The Spring in Havant on Thursday December 8.

Described as “faultless, stylish and captivating” (Brighton Argus), she is joined by her band of highly talented musicians, featuring Van Morrison’s ex-sax player Lee Goodall.

Edana will perform a beautiful and eclectic set of standards from the Great American Songbook through to more contemporary classics including songs by Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan.

After hearing the soundtrack of The Talented Mr Ripley, directed by her late brother, the Oscar-winning film director Anthony Minghella, Edana was inspired to take up jazz singing ten years ago. Since then she has gone from strength to strength. 2016 in particular has been a great success, with the launch of her second album, All or Nothing: Songs from the Billie Holiday songbook. The album celebrates Lady Day’s unique take on a range of songs from her vast repertoire and has been widely acclaimed by listeners and critics alike.

Edana’s show at The Spring will include some tracks from the album including Hoagy Carmichael’s stunning love song The Nearness of You, and the upbeat and sassy title track, All or Nothing At All, made famous by Frank Sinatra.

“I can’t wait to sing at The Spring”, said Edana. “Songs of Love and Longing is one of those shows that is always very special, extraordinarily intimate and emotional, and The Spring is the perfect place to perform it.”

“A magical event. 5 stars.” Latest Magazine.

“All or Nothing is fantastic from start to end.” Alan Musson, Jazz Breakfast.
