SOUTHAMPTON'S favourite skiffle-billy four piece, Junco Shakers, are set to release their debut self-titled EP on Friday, the same day they support the legendary Chas n Dave at the city's Engine Rooms.

The members of Junco Shakers came together little over a year ago in September 2015. They have already played over 100 gigs across the country, including major slots at Blissfields Festival, Jerk Fest and Wonky Donk with many bigger slots lined up for 2017.

Taking influences from 50’s rock n roll, skiffle, reggae, blues and jazz artists such as Big Joe Turner, Leadbelly, Lonnie Donegan and Louis Prima. With Sam La’penn and Gaz playing acoustic guitars, Mitch Ratcliffe on double bass and Ben Gunn beating the washboard and providing gospel harmonies and roaring harmonica. Coming together it makes a sound they dub skifflle-billy, which throws music back to its routes whilst crafting contemporary songs.

Their debut EP coincides with the band's biggest support slot to date, a gig with mockney duo, Chas n Dave. The EP features four tracks and will be available on all the normal formats as well as via the official website juncoshakers.com.

Based in Southampton, Junco Shakers are quickly making a name for themselves as a must-see band. They have built a strong fan base across the south coast and are now quickly making their way around the UK. They’ll also be supporting Son of Dave at The Joiners on December 7.
