Southampton’s closely knit music community are joining forces to help a city based rock star who needs ground breaking treatment in his battle against cancer.

A benefit gig is being staged at Eastleigh’s Concorde Club on Tuesday for Delays’ frontman Greg Gilbert who has bowel and lung cancer.

The line-up includes PDS Band, Goldrush, Sunflower, Stevie John Band and The Vinyl Beats.

The 40 year-old father of two needs a new lifesaving drug which is not available on the NHS.

And the global community have rallied around with a fundraising campaign hitting the £100,000 target within just days.

Greg Gilbert's Go Fund Me page has seen donations pour in from more than 2,500 fans and friends across the globe, including from stars such as Ellie Goulding who contributed £2,000 to the cause.

Southampton’s home grown singing superstar Craig David who donated £1,000, was one of many who tweeted a link to Greg's page with a message saying: "Let's get you better Greg and back to making music that you love, sending you my love and positive energy."

Greg is the falsetto voice behind many of Delays biggest hits, including Valenting, Long Time Coming and Hideaway.
