MORE THAN 30 pieces of musical memorabilia will be sold in a month-long auction to raise funds for Delays frontman Greg Gilbert.

The sale will raise money for potentially life-saving cancer treatment for Greg, who was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer and secondary lung cancer.

Among the items to be sold off will be Franz Ferdinand's 1972 Fibes drumkit used on at least three lives tours between 2009 and 2013, as well as being played on the David Letterman Show.

Also for sale is a signed Craig David acoustic guitar and signed platinum disk from Coldplay.

Auctioneer Andrew Ewbank, of Ewbank's Auctions in Woking, said he was touched by Greg's story after reading about his plight.

"We read about Greg's battle with cancer and noticed this his family and bandmates had been hoping to raise money for treatment that was unavailable on the NHS.

"As part of that, they wanted to do a timed auction, and we offered that service for them.

"We have got some exciting bits and pieces for sale, including a day at The Premises Studios in London, which has been used the Arctic Monkeys and Nina Simone, and two items signed by former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.

"There are also other signed items, music memorabilia and experiences."

The lots have a low starting price to encourage bidding, and the auction house has decided to waive vendor commission to further boost Greg's fundraising mission.

Andrew added: "We are hoping the auction raises money into the thousands of pounds.

"We also hope people recognise that this auction is for a charitable cause and bid generously and more than they would usually."

The auction is running now until March 9.

PANEL

HUNDREDS of tickets have been sold for a big ‘Cavalry’ event being this month to support Delays frontman Greg Gilbert.

Of the 750 allocated tickets, more 400 have been snapped up by supporters.

The event, organised by former Delays lighting engineer Ed Warren, is being held at the 1865 in Brunswick Square on February 17, from 7pm.

The gig is being headlined by Delays, without Greg, and will also feature live music from Band of Skulls, Mystery Jets, The Diamond Age, Eddy Temple-Morris, Sam Duckworth formally of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly and Thomas Tantrum - which will be reforming for night only.

Limited edition concert t-shirts will be sold on the night for £15, as well as limited edition posters designed by Matt Canning of The Diamond Age.

A fender guitar, donated by The Guitar Store in Southampton, will also be raffled off on the night.

Ed said: "Tickets will not be available on the night so it it best to purchase them in advance.

"I would really like the show to be a sell-out so we can raise as much money as possible for Greg's cause."

Tickets are £30 and can be purchased at www.the1865.com/events/cavalry
