A HOST of unsigned, up and coming acts will appear at the return of Southampton's Share The Sound Festival this weekend.

The event, launched in 2015 by the University of Southampton's Music department, will showcase a talented, eclectic line-up of some of the best local musicians and bands.

Expect jazz, pop, funk, and rock sets, as well as everything from intimate harp and vocal sets to lively fusion jazz bands at The Talking Heads on Friday and Saturday night.

Stanlaey bring original music written/scored by Bethany Stenning (stanlaey) to the stage. Stanlaey's sound has been described as ethereal gypsy punk-pop and eerie with Kate Bush-esque vocals. A semi finalist in Glastonbury 2016's emerging talent competition, Stanlaey's unique sound includes either other musicians, four of those being her seaweed string quartet.

A four-piece all-original funk rock band based in Southampton, Lost or Stolen are guaranteed to bring the house down with their powerhouse sound.

Myriad are a four-piece pop-rock band based in Southampton who have a passion for creating original music.

Also formed in Southampton, Nine Ace Deck bring elements of Funk and Rock together with their own brand of heavy brass. 2016 saw the genre-bending band travelling around England supporting acts such as Danny Ladwa and Sun Arcana.

An electric and acoustic harpist and singer, Abi Piercey performs new arrangements of classic pop ballads. Releasing her first single Someone To Know in 2013 with proceeds going to the charity Made for Life, she continued to win local and national awards in 2014 for her outstanding playing. Exploring more contemporary music on electric harp, she busked successfully at the Royal Mile at the Edinburgh Fringe and this year at Share The Sound Festival 2017 she will be performing a variety of songs she has arranged for harp and voice.

Charlie Hawkins is a singer-songwriter from Gloucester, who is studying music at the University of Southampton. She released her debut EP last year called I'm Here and has released music videos to accompany two of the singles. With her recently formed band, chaWk, Charlie is excited to perform new material and reawaken some older tunes.
