WICKHAM Festival organisers have unveiled an all-star line-up for 2017.
Headliners include KT Tunstall, Seth Lakeman and The Levellers alongside Eliza Carthy, 10CC, Show of Hands and The Selecter.
Perennial festival favourites Oyster Band, Andy Fairweather Low, Peatbog Faeries and the Spooky Men’s Chorale are also putting in special appearances at the event which runs from August 3 to 6.
Organiser Peter Chegwyn said: “In many ways we are returning to our roots with a very strong folk line-up which will appeal to the many regulars who come year after year as well as our new generation of fans.
“We had hundreds of fans booking for this year’s festival even before we had finished clearing the site last August. People trust us to put on a great event with a terrific line-up and a wonderful atmosphere.
“Regulars know what they are getting and they like it. There is a real family-friendly feel to this event.”
Expect ‘rambunctious, anti-slick, pro-wild, psychedelic emotional pop’ as KT Tunstall describes hew new music, mixed with classics from the catalogue including the Grammy Award-nominated Black Horse & The Cherry Tree, Suddenly I See, Hold On and Saving My Face.
Back by popular demand is Seth Lakeman who topped the bill at the Wickham Festival in 2013. The crowds loved the versatile English folksinger who plays the fiddle, viola and banjo as well as the guitar. Best known for Lady of the Sea, one of the biggest- selling traditional folk songs in the UK, Seth has a vast repertoire.
The Levellers are seasoned festival favourites. Their appearance at the Glastonbury in 1994 attracted the biggest stagefront crowd that the event had ever seen.
10cc first appeared at Wickham back in 2013 as a support slot which proved one of the big hits of the summer. They then played in 2015and are back again in 2017. With a string of top 10 hits including Donna, Dreadlock Holiday, Rubber Bullets and I’m Not in Love, this evergreen act will bring the event to a fantastic finale.
Wickham’s line-up this year also includes Ferocious Dog, the Men They Couldn’t Hang, John Otway, Kathryn Tickell, Tankus the Henge, Fisherman’s Friends and many more.
