THE fabulous Syd Lawrence Orchestra makes a welcome return to the Regent Centre in Christchurch on Thursday ( April 20).
Founded in 1967 by legendary trumpeter, Syd Lawrence, the Orchestra has been entertaining audiences around the world and at top UK venues, such as the London Palladium and Royal Festival Hall, ever since
Now under the leadership of Chris Dean, this fizzy and frisky glittering gem of a show remains the Best Big Band Entertainment in town as the Orchestra deliver another full throttle performance.
The Syd Lawrence Orchestra has maintained a traditional big band line up since its conception, featuring trumpets, trombones, saxophones, rhythm section with piano, bass and drums, male and female vocalists and their harmony group.
The Orchestra offers the bubbly verve and energy of that glorious Big Band music together with a hearty helping of nostalgia as they maintain the tradition of the swing era live on stage!
The concert will feature the music of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Quincy Jones, Billy May, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and many more.
