BUDDHIST rapper Maxi Jazz was one third of one of the most successful electronic acts in the world.

He was the lead vocalist of British band Faithless who sold more than 15 million records worldwide.

They toured the globe and were hailed as being responsible for the creation of a whole new sonic landscape for Dance Music.

They were the first to mix dance, hip-hop, blues, folk and classical music.

The singer songwriter is now fronting a new band, Maxi Jazz and The E Type Boys. They will be at The Concorde Club next Friday showcasing their latest album, Simple.. Not Easy.

In 1984 Maxi founded The Soul Food Cafe System as a DJ, having discovered hip hop a year earlier.

He first aired the sound as a DJ calling it In The Soul Kitchen with DJ Maxi Jazz on pirate radio station Reach FM – London. He later switched this sound to pirate radio station LWR.

Now he has returned to his roots with melodic funk and blues mixed with reggae beats, dub baselines, Jamaican melodies and smooth insightful penetrating lyrics from one of the most iconic wordsmiths of our generation.
