FAST-rising Reading four-piece Sundara Karma are on their largest UK tour to date this September and October and play 1865 in Southampton next Friday (September 29).

Sundara Karma’s burgeoning live reputation is marking them out as ‘must-sees’ on the festival circuit having played everything from Glastonbury to Blissfields. They wrapped up the summer with a homecoming turn on the NME/BBC Radio 1 stage at Reading & Leeds.

Led by the charismatic Oscar Pollock, and already armed to the teeth with a fearsome arsenal of solid gold anthems that view classic noughties rock melodies through the modern indie prism of Arcade Fire and The Maccabees, with current single ‘Explore’ Sundara Karma have yet again confounded expectations and effortlessly crafted another 24 carrot indie / art-rock future classic. With the release of their acclaimed debut in January, they are already being hailed as the bright future of alt-rock, a reputation built on a clash of exotic and ordinary. ‘Explore’ sees them fully bearing their indie disco teeth, weaving four minutes of pop-perfection. Like the best in the genre, the single effortlessly brings together the exotic and the mundane, the bravado and the alienation of teenage life as charismatic frontman Oscar Pollock plays on the silvery thread of rock ‘n’ roll androgyny that run through Bowie, Bolan and Suede.
