INTERNATIONALLY respected composer, arranger and trombonist Mike Gibbs comes to Turner Sims on Friday for his 80th birthday celebration.
Mike Gibbs has worked with many music luminaries, including Pat Metheny, John McLaughlin, Scott Scofield, Gary Burton, Whitney Houston, Peter Gabriel and Bill Frisell and has firmly established himself as one of the UK’s leading jazz legends.
His pulsating compositions blend the colours of Africa, Charles Ives, Messiaen and rock into a unique jazz style. JHe celebrates his 80th Birthday with an 18-piece big band line-up that reads like a Who’s Who of jazz stars.
