PORTSMOUTH’S Eyes To The Skies will play their first ever headline show on Saturday and it’s in Southampton.

The rapidly rising band, who formed a year ago when front man Alex Seymour and guitarist George Wolstencroft met bassist John Harris and drummer Mike Cook at college, will top a Saturday night triple bill at The Joiners.

The lads are no strangers to Southampton; many music fans will remember them supporting indie stars The Sherlocks at The 1865 in September, three weeks after the South Yorkshire band’s debut album reached number six in the official chart.

Eyes To The Skies headlined this year’s Icebreaker Festival in Southsea and last month supported tribute band Antarctic Monkeys for a second time in Sheffield.

There is no shortage of new music with the band having released four singles, Glasgow, Talk, Don’t and Intoxicated.

They have received airplay on BBC Introducing South with Steph Newenhouse and on The Shout on Express FM in their home city.

Songwriter Alex says the band is inspired by The Sherlocks to play as many gigs as possible while unsigned, adding that they would announce a new date in the north soon, as well as more gigs in the south.

Eyes To The Skies play The Joiners on Saturday May 5 with support from Devin Jade and Number 9. Tickets £5 on the door or at joiners.vticket.co.uk
