A HAMPSHIRE festival, Jerk Jam, is this weekend holding a competition to find local talent to play at this years bash.

Jerk Jam, which takes place in Titchfield in July, are taking over the Shooting Star pub in Bevois Valley tomorrow, the Journey to Jerk Jam event will see a number of local musicians take to the stage to compete for a slot on the main stage.

The Jerk Jam crew will also be taking over the garden of the Shooting Star with their unique Caribbean Kitchen.

The festival itself, which takes place on the July 21, has a diverse line-up from rave legends Altern 8 to local 'Kings of Skifflebilly', Junco Shakers to drum and bass DJ/producer Nicky Blackmarket.

Inspired by the Notting Hill Carnival, the event proudly brings music and food lovers together for a day of explosive sights, sounds and tastes.

Festival organisers said: "We're really excited for this years festival, the line up is on fire and tickets are flying out. We can't wait to check out the talent on display at The Shooting Star this weekend - it's going to be spicy!".

The acts competing for a place this weekend include Mad King Ludwig & the Mojo Co, Dan O'Farrell & the Difference Engine, Pivotal, Mike Brown, Levi, Triggz Legacy and The Crow Flies.

Entrance is free and the party starts at midday and runs til 9pm
