THE journey to Winchester is a relatively short hop for London-based pianist, Harry Rylance, who is scheduled to perform a free concert at Winchester Cathedral on Tuesday August 14 at 1pm.
Which is good because Harry’s passport is running out of pages.
British by birth but a global citizen by circumstance, the 21 year-old pianist has lived and studied in Korea, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Hungary, Germany and the U.S.
Aged 11, he relocated to Budapest at the invitation of the Liszt Academy’s School for Exceptional Young Talent. During his four years in Hungary, he worked with a number of outstanding teachers including Jenő Jandó, Péter Nagy and the legendary Zoltán Kocsis.
His resume includes an acclaimed performance of Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra and a live recital of Scriabin on From The Top, America’s nationwide classical music radio programme.
Other highlights of his still-fledgling career include several sold-out concerts as soloist with the renowned Liszt Chamber Orchestra during its tour of Asia, and a performance of Mozart in the iconic Grand Hall of Budapest.

He will perform a programme of Bach, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev and Messiaen at the lunchtime concert.
