- TRUMPETER JAY PHELPS has put together an all-star line-up to re-arrange and perform the wonderful music of Miles Davis, spanning over four decades, at Southampton’s Turner Sims tonight.
Phelps has always cited Davis as one of his greatest inspirations and breathes new life into his music with this brand new project.
The band leader is joined by Soweto Kinchand Logan Richardson on saxophone, pianist Benet McLean, Tim Thornton on bass and drummer Shane Forbes.
- THE ADRIAN COX QUARTET, set to appear at the Concorde Club on Wednesday, is currently shaking up the British jazz scene.
Featuring alongside Adrian (clarinet/sax) are three of the UK’s top musicians.
The band plays a mix of energetic jazz and swing in the styles of Benny Goodman and Earl Bostic.
Seen touring the world with the outrageous ska band Bad Manners, Adrian is also a masterful New Orleans style clarinet and sax maestro. His new quartet features Concorde favourite Nils Solberg on guitar.
