RISING Southampton singing star Charley Macaulay is to headline the second Bradfest music festival near Winchester this weekend.

The family fun day will take place on Saturday in memory of Bradley Watson who was killed in a road accident in June 2000, just four days after his ninth birthday.

His mother Tina Dine set up Bradley’s Foundation to raise money for cancer charities and she is hoping the benefit concert will be every bit as successful as last summer’s sell-out in the grounds of Woodlands Park at Otterbourne.

She said: “Last year was the first time we had staged the event and we had no idea how it would go – the important thing was to do something in Bradley’s memory and to raise money for a good cause.

“But it was a stunning success, helped by the beautiful weather.

We had hundreds of people enjoying eight hours of music with plenty of food and drink.

“This year we have added a whole host of family attractions to make it even better.

“Charley Macaulay played last year’s event and was so moved by it that she has become an ambassador for the charity. She has done an enormous amount to help promote it and we are delighted she and her band will be headlining.

“It promises to be a fantastic evening and hopefully we can raise around £10,000 to help a good cause in the process.”

Joining Macaulay and her eightpiece soul/funk band will be top tribute act the Strolling Stones, Marley Blandford and CJ Edwards from The Voice, to raise money for The Teenage Cancer Trust.

Charley, aged 20, has already appeared at Glastonbury and Isle of Wight festivals, she has regularly supported Tom Jones and has a massive local following.

In addition to the music, there will be a market, a champagne bar, BBQ, kids’ fun zone with 80-foot assault course and bouncy castle, football coaching with Performing Sports and Saints legend Jason Dodd, supercar paddock and cream tea tent.

Tickets cost £25 or just £10 for those aged 4-16 with Under threes admitted free.
