SOUTHAMPTON MUSIC HUB AT HANGER FARM ARTS CENTRE...

2014 marks 50 years since Southampton became a city. Southampton Music Hub is celebrating this through the delivery of 50 musical events during June 2014 – 50@50 To reflect this, the programme for Southampton Jazz Workshop and Panatical at Hanger Farm Arts Centre in Totton on Monday will feature some pieces of music from 1964.

Southampton Jazz Workshop was set up by band directors Jo and Tim Downs in 2006 to enable younger players in the city to experience jazz as part of a large ensemble.

The band plays a variety of swing, latin, contemporary and original jazz orchestra music and currently features several young and talented jazz improvisers.

Panatical are an elite steel band consisting of current and former pupils of Crestwood College Eastleigh. They have gained national recognition as a premier youth steel band, playing in excess of 30 gigs per year, ranging from local charity events to festivals, concert hall performances and international sports fixtures.
