SHE IS the talented musician from Hampshire who has received national airplay and been described as a “rising star”.

Louise Jordan, who grew up in Winchester, is launching her third album, Veritas, at Fordingbridge Town Hall on September 27.

The release develops stylistically from her previous recordings and has been made possible thanks to funding from Help Musicians UK, which awarded her an Emerging Excellence Grant.

Veritas, which is Latin for truth, deals with aspects of honesty and integrity, and Louise will be performing tracks from the new album at the event.

Songs include one about New Forest smuggler Lovey Warne, which is based on her local research, empowering self-penned single In the End, traditional songs including Bushes and Briars, and a unique arrangement of Handel’s Where’er You Walk.

Louise attended Birming-ham University at 18 to study law and worked as a youth worker in youth justice before training and working as a teacher in challenging schools in East London.

It was while working as a project manager for Shelter and studying for a Masters in Human Rights that Louise discovered folk clubs.

Her music career blossomed and she continues her passion for working with young people through music workshops.

She is involved in the Zone Club at Salisbury Arts Centre with people with learning disabilities.

The event is held through Forest LIVE and supports efforts to raise funds for the Trust of Overseas Aid and Development.
