JAMES BLUNT is heading for Bournemouth with his Moon Landing tour which has been thrilling audiences across the globe.

The former Army captain who hails from Andover has been on an exhaustive world tour but found time to get married to legal consultant and society beauty Sofia Wellesley in September.

The couple blessed their civil wedding ceremony in London with a religious ceremony in Majorca before heading to Ibiza for further celebrations.

There has been very little let up on the gruelling tour schedule however and now the singer is back at the BIC on Thursday, November 27.

“I’m in a new city every night but it’s really great fun and I’m really looking forward to coming home to do the arena tour dates in the UK, “he said.

“I grew up in Andover so there will be lots of family coming which will be great.

"I’ve had great support all over the world for my Moon Landing tour and album but what counts most is home. I have been all over the world. It’s very hard to complain about it as I’m very lucky to do the job I do.”

The show will feature all the hits including tracks from Moon Landing which is James Blunt’s fourth album.

It’s an album about dreams, longing, first love. About looking in the mirror and seeing the boy you were, the man you are – and learning to be comfortable with that, flaws and all.

About getting back to basics and rediscovering the power of music to communicate emotion directly and honestly, without too much polish or complication.

"There’s just something romantic, old-school and lonely about the moon landings," he explains.

"A nostalgic memory of something huge that we can hardly believe we once achieved, and for some sad reason, can’t achieve again – like first love."

The pop star has chosen Bournemouth singer-songwriter Drew Allen as a support act for his BIC show.

He made his selection from our sister paper the Bournemouth Daily Echo and O2 Academy Bournemouth’s Unsigned campaign.

Hundreds of bands entered but the You’re Beautiful singer was impressed with Drew and his winning track, The Deal.

“There’s something exciting about the music of Drew Allen. Sort of a cross between Neil Young and Jake Bugg, with a great deal of honesty thrown into his lyrics,” said Blunt.

Last year, Drew left a career with supercar manufacturer McClaren and moved back to his hometown of Bournemouth to focus solely on music.

Since his return, Drew’s song-writing has been prolific and his debut album, Sydney Afternoon has won him universal praise.

Playing the BIC with James Blunt will be something special for Drew who said: “I love people enjoying my music and I’ve watched bands such as The Arctic Monkeys and Bob Dylan perform at the BIC.

“Every time I drive past the venue, I always hope that one day I’ll get to play there.

“James is a special musician and so it’s incredible that I’ll be supporting him. It means the world to me.”
