IT has become the south’s biggest tribute festival.

Now the Daily Echo can reveal that PhoneyFEST, staged by Eastleigh’s Concorde Club, is set to get even bigger with a mega line up of nearly 40 tribute acts.

This annual salute to a glittering host of pop heroes is marking its fifth year by adding a fourth day.

Thousands are expected to flock to Stoneham Lane club and there is an added incentive of an early bird ticket, to pay homage to the biggest names in the popular music world.

The Concorde’s Jamie Mathieson said: “We are delighted to hold PhoneyFEST for the fifth year. The event has become a fixture on many people’s diaries.

“Due to the demand we have now incorporated a fourth day so this year no less than 39 tribute artists will be appearing. Early bird tickets are on sale from December 5.”

The festival is between May 22 and May 25 and the mouthwatering tribute list includes Showaddywaddy, Elvis, Black Eyed Peas, Madness, Michael Bublé, Karen Carpenter, Mick Hucknall, Cher, Roy Orbison, Bryan Adams, Blur, Stereophonics, Oasis, Kaiser Chiefs, Take That, Blondie, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, Gary Barlow, Olly Murs, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Little Mix, Whitney Houston, Pink, Abba, Robbie Williams, The Jersey Boys, George Michael, Eagles, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, REM, David Bowie, Kings of Leon, U2 and UB40.

There will also be a chance for festival goers to have stars in their eyes as they are invited to headline PhoneyFEST by taking centre stage in the Rockaoke sessions.

The Concorde has also announced that British rock, pop and soul star Paul Carrick, who last year made his Concorde debut playing to a full house, will be returning on July 17.

Making another Concorde comeback will be Curtis Stigers on February 6.

Veteran R&B singer and keyboard player, Georgie Fame, who cut his musical teeth at The Concorde, back in the ’60s, returns to the Stoneham Lane club on May 8.

He will be marking the 50th anniversary of the release of his classic number one Yeh Yeh which was the first recording that knocked The Beatles off the number spot in the charts.

Well-known jazz songstress Claire Martin returns to The Concorde on April 15 and the new year jazz line-up also includes Southampton University Big Band (February 11) Kansas Smitty’s House Band (Feb 18) Back to Basie Jazz Orchestra (March 4) and MJQ Celebration (March 25).
