A SOUTH coast appearance from indie band The Enemy tonight has been postponed due to illness.

Bassist Andy Hopkins has been struck by "terrible" food poisoning and tonight's show at the O2 Academy Bournemouth has been postponed as a result.

Customers are advised to retain their tickets as a new date will be announced shortly, but any ticket holders who wish to obtain a refund can do so from their point of purchase.

The show was to also feature performances by bands The Twang and JAWS.

A spokesman for The Enemy said: “We’re really sorry but we are going to have to postpone the Bournemouth show for The Enemy and The Twangs Christmas tour. Andy from The Enemy has terrible food poisoning and the doctor has ordered complete rest for the next 24 hours.

"Both bands have been having a great time on the road and want the fans to see the whole package so rather than just one band turn up, we want to postpone the show for a new date to be announced. See you next year. Merry Christmas.”
