SUPERSTARS of the stage are set to take over a twoday Hampshire music festival following the “booming success” of last year.

Tinie Tempah, the Flaming Lips, Texas and the Fratellis are among the luminaries who will perform at Victorious Festival 2015 this summer.

The weekend-long event in Portsmouth is billed as a good-value family event and was the envy of Southampton when Maximo Park, the Cribs and Charlotte Church played at the first event in 2013.

Basement Jaxx have already been confirmed for this year’s event and will join The Magic Numbers, Peter Hook & the Light, Hayseed Dixie and Bipolar Sunshine.

In 2014 more than 70,000 revellers packed out the site and promoters hope that this year’s event at Southsea seafront will be unmissable.

Organiser Andy Marsh says that the festival has made itself a fixture of the summer music calendar.

He said: “We wanted to create a festival with no limitations that could be enjoyable and affordable for all ages.”

Saturday headliners The Flaming Lips are known for their flamboyant stage shows during which frontman Wayne Coyne surfs across the audience in a giant plastic bubble.

Formed in Oklahoma City in the USA, the band first gained mainstream recognition with 1999’s The Soft Bulletin and 2002’s Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.

Meanwhile British electronic duo Basement Jaxx shot to fame in 2001 after releasing hit single Where’s Your Head At?.

The music will be split on to a number of stages including the Common Stage, Castle Stage, Nevada Seaside Stage, and the Kids Stage.

Taking advantage of its setting, organisers recommend to musiclovers that they take a trip to the nearby DDay Museum, Southsea Castle or have a peek into the Blue Reef Aquarium.

For those with a more daring streak Southsea Skatepark has an array of concrete rinks, ramps and rails for BMXs, roller blades and scooters.
