TICKETS are selling fast for the Southampton appearance of one of the most critically acclaimed bands in the world.

The War on Drugs take to the stage at the O2 Guildhall Southampton tomorrow night to wow the crowd with their epic brand of rock-driven Americana.

The Philadelphia band, led by frontman Adam Granduciel, blew critics away in 2014 with their third album, Lost in the Dream, which appeared at the top of many end-of-year album lists across the world.

With comparisons to Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty, The War on Drugs effortlessly entwine heartfelt blues, shoegaze and cathartic indie rock that sets them apart from their contemporaries.

Such has been their success they have been nominated for the Best International Artist gong at the Brit Awards on Wednesday night.

The War on Drugs burst onto the scene with Wagonwheel Blues in 2008, but it wasn’t until the release of Slave Ambient in 2011 that the world started to take notice.

Former member, Kurt Vile, left the band in 2011 to embark on a solo career, and has also tasted critical success.

Troubadour, Amen Dunes, will provide support tomorrow night.

Last year Amen Dunes, the project of Damon McMahon, released the well-received album, Love, and last month he unveiled his six-track EP Cowboy Worship.

Tickets are priced at £22.55 and can be booked at seetickets.com or via the Guildhall box office on 023 8063 2601.
