THE STRYPES look set to sell-out their first gig in the south at one of the region’s newest music venues.

The four-piece from Cavan will bring their electrifying fusion of raw rock & roll and rhythm & blues to the Engine Rooms off West Quay Road in Southampton on Saturday 16 May.

Lead singer-guitarist Ross Farrelly, guitarist Josh McClorey, bassist Pete O'Hanlon and drummer Evan Walsh have already made a huge impact and, incredibly, they are all still teenagers.

Their impressive 2013 debut album, Snapshot, reached number 5 in the UK official chart. They have gathered some famous supporters with Paul Weller, Miles Kane and Roger Daltrey all being big fans.

Singles Blue Collar Jane and Hometown Girls have also made a firm imprint.

As well as constantly touring, the band have also played Glastonbury, appeared on Later with Jools Holland and supported Artic Monkeys at venues across Europe.

They have even made in-roads in America after performing their single What a Shame on the Late Show with David Letterman. That was at New York’s legendary Ed Sullivan Theatre almost 50 years to the day to when their heroes, The Beatles, first famously performed there.
