POP star, actor and a musical leading man... eighties icon Jason Donovan is heading for Southampton.

Due to "phenomenal demand" the former teen idol has added 12 extra dates to his national UK tour - including a date at Southampton Guildhall next Spring.

Star of stage and screen, Jason Donovan shot to superstardom as the blue-eyed, blonde-haired heartthrob in the Aussie soap Neighbours before launching his pop career.

Now he is returning to his roots for a solo tour of his debut 5 X Platinum, 1989 album ‘Ten Good Reasons’ and ‘Greatest Hits’.

Jason will perform at Southampton Guildhall on Saturday May 7 as part of a 31 date UK tour. Tickets for the new shows go on sale Friday at 9am.

Ten Good Reasons became the biggest selling album of 1989 and remains a massive fan favourite with two solo No.1 singles "Too Many Broken Hearts" and "Sealed with a Kiss”. It also featured a duet with Kylie Minogue, "Especially for You", which reached No.1.

The tour marks a huge step for the 80s heart throb: this is the first time he toured as a solo artist for six years and the first time he has ever toured the ‘Ten Good Reasons’ album.

Jason Donovan said: “The response to the tour has been totally overwhelming. I have been shocked and humbled by the speed at which these shows sold. Ten Good Reasons’ was life changing for me the first time around and it’s already proving to be life changing again.”
