FOLK singer Beans on Toast will bring his blend of honest opinions and unique laid back sound to Southampton tomorrow night.

The gig, at The Joiners, forms part of Independent Venue Week and will include support from local acts Sammy Kettell and Mackenzie Gordon-Smith.

The talented singer-songwriter, pictured, finished 2015 with a six-week US tour supporting Frank Turner and the release of his seventh studio album, Rolling Up The Hill released on Xtra Mile Records.

The witty and opinionated performer has garnered a large underground following over the last seven years through some eye catching sets at Glastonbury, Boomtown Fair and The Big Top stage at Bestival in 2014 and consistently touring new countries and towns.

However, he will be playing an intimate show in Southampton as it’s clear within his songs that he understands the importance of the smaller venues and scenes around the UK that have helped him gain a larger fan base.

Independent venue week is a full week of gigs around the UK at smaller venues, celebrating the hard work of the people who organise and work at these venues to bring live music to people almost every day of the year.

The events are supported by the Arts Council England and give fans a nationwide series of events working with both unsigned and established artists to acknowledge the backbone of the music industry that often give future stars their first chance at performing live in front of a crowd.

Solent Music are constantly trying to organise entertaining shows in the local Southampton area and will bring another one to The Joiners on Saturday before their annual SMILEfest returns in March 2016.
