SINGING star Jake Bugg is returning to the South after announcing extra shows for his huge Autumn UK and European tour.

After a packed summer of festivals the young Nottingham-born songwriter will play the O2 Academy in Bournemouth in November to promote On My One which he has strikingly called his “make or break” third album.

Incredibly, it’s over three years since Jake Bugg played an astonishing sold-out show in Southampton soon after the release of his number one debut self-titled album.

Then he stood almost alone on the giant Guildhall stage and brilliantly mixed raw rock and roll on songs like Taste It and Lightning Bolt and also played American folk music on the simple, but incredibly moving Broken.

He swiftly followed up with his outstanding second compilation Shangri La which told of growing up and ducking and diving around the streets of Clifton with fantastic songs like What Doesn’t Kill You, Slumville Sunrise and Kingpin.

Now he’s raring to go again with On my One, a stripped back, self-written and largely self-produced album including two potential songs of the year with the raucous single Gimme the Love and the epic and emotional Love, Hope and Misery.

The styles are diverse, moving from the singer’s trademark blues to soul and even hip-hop. It’s exactly what a pioneering third album should be and proves the twenty-two year old has lots of tricks up his sleeve and is still one of the most exciting acts around.
