YOU'VE seen and heard Southampton Choral Society at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton, supporting international superstars like Carlos Acosta.

Why not see their own show at Turner Sims tomorrow night?

Be swept away by the dramatic choral work Freedom by Ian Scofield. This emotional and colourful work was commissioned by Southampton Choral Society and tells the story of the legal abolition of slavery. This is a piece that reflects key moments in the fight to abolish the slave trade in the British Empire, with graphic text from the actual Court proceedings.

The music fuses jazz, spirituals, Victorian pomp and circumstance and lyrical chorales in a powerful, thought provoking reminder of the evils of slavery.

Alongside this modern masterpiece, Bob Chilcott’s fascinating Little Jazz Mass will be sung, demonstrating Southampton Choral Society’s versatility in an unusual choral feast.
