IN a performance created specially for Turner Sims Southampton, three of the UK’s leading lieder performers present a rare opportunity to hear Hugo Wolf’s Complete Italian Songbook in its entirety on Thursday.

Within the German song genre, Wolf was a giant, considered by many to be the greatest composer of lieder after Schubert. Although not composed as a complete cycle, the 46 songs remain one of the pinnacles of the song repertoire. Soprano Elizabeth Watts and baritone Roderick Williams are joined by pianist Roger Vignoles, who will be in conversation with Concert Hall Manager Kevin Appleby in a pre-concert talk.
