FAREHAM’S monthly Jazz event – Jazz on the Green has celebrated its first birthday.

Since it was launched last November it has gone from strength to strength with ten bands performing to over 800 local jazz fans.

To mark this milestone Kevin Grenfell, Richard Leach and their band “Slide by Slide” gave a fantastic performance at Jazz on the Green attended by Mayor Councillor Mrs Connie Hockley.

Founder Barry Quantrill said,“We’re really proud of what Jazz on the Green has achieved in our first year, the whole team has worked really hard to bring live Jazz and swing music to the area and we have loved meeting fellow fans who share our enthusiasm and love of the music. Our regular guests have given us some fantastic feedback and offered ideas of new ways to enable us to continue delivering an exciting and varied line-up.”

Jazz on the Green is non-profit making and offers a new and fresh approach to delivering live music locally. Performances, on a large and fully lit stage, are delivered in a professional but friendly atmosphere with cabaret seating, dressed tables and full bar facilities at Sarisbury Green Community Centre.

Organisers are delighted the Community Centre has supported the venture through their marketing activities ensuring that local residents are aware of these events in their neighbourhood.

Now as they look forward to their second year the team are looking forward to welcoming back some of their favourite bands and adding some new favourites to the list. Among the returning artists are Amy Roberts and Richard Exall, who launched Jazz on the Green back in November 2015. They return in April 2017.
