THE new Chapel Sessions music series continues next month ( Friday March 24) with the long overdue return of Bristol- based Daisy Chapman. Talented singer/songwriter Daisy has been very busy since her last visit, over two years ago, and the venue says they are fortunate to secure a return visit and a taste of her new album. Daisy was commissioned by the BBC to write a song based on letters received from France in WW1.

With the inspirational home of Chapel Sessions (the Chapel, Royal Victoria Country Park) closed for refurbishment until at least September 2018 Chapel Sessions Music will continue in their temporary home, St Edwards Church, Grange Road, Netley.

On Saturday May 6 the venue welcomes a double headline Session featuring Ray Cooper and Steve Skaith.

Ray Cooper is a former member of the highly acclaimed Oysterband who is accustomed to playing to sell-out crowds in Festivals in the UK. Now based in Sweden, organisers say they have been trying to tie him down to a Chapel Session Gig "for ages".

Also new to Chapel Sessions will be 80's hit-maker Steve Skaith doing a solo spot away from his mega band Latin Quarter who scored an international hit with ‘Radio Africa’.

Organisers are "thrilled" to have persuaded a firm Chapel Sessions favourite with a recently found Sessions friend to return once more on May 27. Jenn Bostic, Sarah Darling plus (new to Chapel Sessions) Michael Logen will be teaming up to give us another taste of Nashville in the inimitable style of the famous Bluebird Cafe.

Then Wednesday June 7 sees the long awaited return of one of the early Chapel Session artists, Guildford- based Emma Stevens who has performed at both Chris Evans’ Children in Need Car Fests. The talented singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is returning with her band to headline in her own right!

On Midsummer's Day, Wednesday June 21, the first half of the Chapel Sessions year will be brought to a close with the highly acclaimed Cara, a multi award winning Scottish/German band playing Irish and Celtic Music.

They perform a great blend of vocal harmonies and fantastic instrumentals from keyboard, fiddle, uilleann pipes, guitar & a virtuoso bodhran player Rolf Wagels. Completing the line-up is Edinburgh- based Kim Edgar on keyboards and vocals.

Chapel Sessions Music is a community led not for profit occasional music series at St Edwards Church, Grange Road, Netley (Further details 07702980677).
