SOUTHAMPTON indie stars Bel Esprit are celebrating their latest single with a headline show in the city this weekend.

Frontman Billy Herklots and band mates Fahad Siddiqui, George Wardley and Sachin Croker release new song Crucible before playing The Joiners on St Mary Street on Saturday as part of another popular Club Psychedelia night.

Infectious melodies, effortlessly cool vocals and influences from The Velvet Underground and Andy Warhol’s Factory scene define this band’s music. They’re already veterans of both Southampton’s Common People festivals and have supported the likes of Nothing But Thieves, Sundara Karma and Ezra Furman in recent times.

Last single Lose My Mind racked up more than 120,000 Sound Cloud hits and was played on BBC 6 Music after the band met legendary DJ Steve Lamacq at The Joiners.

Playing alongside Bel Esprit are special guests Howland and Imbium from Brighton.

The Southampton lads’ recent tour saw them headline in London and Leeds last month. They head north again to Liverpool in a few weeks, but first play The Joiners on Saturday. Tickets £3 advance & before 11pm, £5 after. More at joiners.vticket.co.uk
