A NEW nightclub with a live stage for bands is set open on the former Lennon's site in Southampton.
Suburbia will open its doors for the first time at the end of April.
The club, in Onslow Road, in St Mary's, will be able to host up to 500 people and will be open three to four nights a week.
Before Lennon's closed it was a central part of the city’s nightlife for more than 20 years, seeing bands such as The Kooks, Maximo Park and Southampton rock group Band of Skulls grace its stage.
Businesswoman Lorraine Loizou, who has lived in the south all her lives, bought the site at the beginning of this year.
She will now spend the next eight weeks giving the club, which has a licence until 3.30am, a facelift, ready for its opening and VIP event on April 27.
Lorraine said: "Suburbia will be Southampton’s next venue, we wanted to do something a little bit different and give the locals and students something which they can be proud of as well as putting something incredible back into the community.
"We are giving the venue a modern facelift and keeping as a live stage venue."
