SOUTHAMPTON singer-songwriter Calum Lintott is playing his biggest headline show so far on Friday.

The former Brother Goose frontman has already had a memorable year playing both stages at Common People, Isle of Wight festival and gigs at The Joiners.

Now he’s heading back to The Loft on Lower Banister Street where, along with other popular local acts, he was part of the opening night line-up in June.

It’s a great venue” says Calum “As soon as we came off stage last time, I was messaging promoter Tom Dyer for another show there. I can’t wait to get back.”

The Loft has already seen headline performances from local stars Sean McGowan, Cassava and The Rising, plus national touring bands like Vant, Yak, Clean Cut Kid and The Big Moon.

“With our full band it’s going to be our biggest sound so far” says Calum. “I don’t mind solo acoustic stuff, but what I write now is for a group. We’ll definitely play two or three numbers that no one will have heard before as well as old favourites.

Calum is joined by Laurence Henderson on lead guitar, Moritz Krie on drums, Sam Bennett on bass and Tom Bennett on acoustic guitar. A video filmed in Germany for latest single The World is Not For Turning has just been released.

Stellar support comes from Southampton’s The Dead Freights and The Manatees, plus rising London singer Emily Capell who Calum first met when they were both on the Jack Rocks This Feeling stage at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.

“Emily is great singer with a fantastic bee-hive. In December she’s is supporting indie legends Texas in South Africa and Dubai. With so much going on we’re lucky to have her along.”

And there could be a couple more famous faces at the gig after Calum caught up with Southampton stars Band of Skulls at Itchen Sixth Form College, where he works in the music department.

“Russell Marsden and Emma Richardson came down to listen to the students and play some acoustic tunes of their own. We talked about music for ages and, as they know Emily too, they said they’d try and get down to the gig.”

Calum Lintott, Emily Capell, The Dead Freights and The Manatees play The Loft on Lower Banister Street on Friday 27 October 2017. Tickets £5 seetickets.com.
