The Joiners and Advance Promotions launch Mo’live at Southampton's West Quay

TWO of Southampton’s biggest independent music promoters have teamed up to present a line-up of top local talent at the city’s newest venue for live music, which opens tonight.

The Joiners and Advance Promotions are launching Mo’live at the Mo’club at West Quay Industrial Estate after several years of searching for a medium sized venue to bridge the gap between Southampton’s thriving club venue scene and larger venues reserved for big chart acts.

Mo’live is comparable in size to The Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea and it is hoped the city will now attract more live tours.

Tonight’s headliners are fast-rising metalcore quintet Bury Tomorrow with their formidable live show, favourites on the Southampton scene and not expected to stay unsigned for long.

They are supported by home-grown pop punk from the New Forest Not Advised, Southampton quartet Bury Tomorrow, described as heavy yet melodic, crushing yet uplifting, rockers and ravers Fever Season, progressive foursome A Word Like Attack and five piece alternative Southampton act Towers.

This is brilliant news for the city! As the article says, the city currently lacks a medium sized venue and loads of good bands end up doing their tours in Pompey instead! Hopefully this will mean the end of the Portsmouth Pyramids being used as a venue... shocking acoustics ruined it for me (anyone who's been there should know what I mean). I look forward to going to a few gigs here in the near future!

This is indeed great news and long overdue. This may even encourage me to get out more after the smoking ban and loss of so many decent live music venues accross the south have all but flushed my social life down the pan. At least now when there are must see bands which I usually travel to Portsmouth or Bournemouth to see, I won't have to travel so far. Looking forward to seeing who they have lined up and wish them the best of luck for the future.
