IT promises to bring the whole city together for the first music festival of its kind.
Residents in Portswood have got together to plan their own free music festival in a bid to bring together different cultures living in and around Southampton.
Now after securing more than £4,000 of National Lottery funding to make their plans a reality, they have urged festivalgoers and families to pull out their ponchos and wash off their wellies for the event on September 11.
The One Big Community Festival will see a host of local bands and live acts take to the stage and families can enjoy interactive workshops and entertainment around the arena while raising cash for charity.
Entertainment will include theatre groups, circus entertainers, lion dancing displays, Indian and street dancing, and performances from the Southampton Ukulele Orchestra.
Around the arena Peppa Pig will entertain children near the bouncy castle, inflatable football pitch, rodeo bull, stilt walkers and jugglers.
Visitors can enjoy mouth-watering food from different cultures in the food courts, relax and unwind at a pamper corner and enjoy a chilled drink at the licensed bar.
Organisers NBSP Portswood Community Group said the event at Portswood recreation ground will also include a raffle, art house and pet corner.
The free family event will run from 11am until 5pm at the recreation ground in Upper Grosvenor Road.
