Music Round Up

AHEAD of a tour of The Bahamas, The Producers will be seen off with a gig at the Brook on Thursday.

Dave Saunders and Harry Skinner formed The Producers in 1990. They went on to be one of the most popular blues outfit in the country at that time winning the Blues Band of the Year award four times, releasing seven CD albums, one of which, Ain't No Love in the World was nominated for the Best Blues Album award and regularly selling out venues around the country.

They are joined by James Greenwood to add extra guitar for some of the songs from the new album London Blues.

p TONIGHT’S line up at Odd Socks at The Cellar offers a playfully raunchy mix of jumpin’ rhythm n blues, old school rock and roll, vintage soul and rockabilly.

Derriere is the sound of the devastating double bass playing of Blood Sugar Hill and wailing blues guitar of T Bone LeRhone. The horn section features the thundering trombone of Gram Canyon, and saxophonist Helleanor Webb, all underpinned by the booty shaking rhythms of Redhand Mallon.

At the forefront of this collection of soulful hipsters are the vocals of fireball front-woman Sarah Tonin.

Derriere's debut single Battle Plan is out now.

p DANNY George Wilson’s rocking new combo Danny and the Champions of the World are the Valentine’s alternative at The Raiway on Tuesday.

Changes are afoot for Danny and his Champions Of The World with their third album.

The line-up is very different from the band that recorded their 2008 eponymous debut album and its 2010 follow-up, Streets Of Our Time.

Whereas the Champions Of The World were originally a loose and chaotic collective of like-minded souls – so loose and so chaotic that you couldn’t accurately predict who exactly would be performing alongside Wilson – this new incarnation of the group is a proper rock’n’roll band.

Check them out live in Winchester next week.
