County bands confirmed for Alresford Festival
10:36am Thursday 3rd May 2012 in Music News By Your Entertainment
THE line-up has been confirmed for Daydream, the third Alresford Music Festival, which takes place on Saturday, June 9.
The Hattie Jacques’ Playlist had already been announced as this year’s headliners, following Dodgy’s top billing last year.
However, a host of Hampshire bands have now been added to the schedule.
No less than 14 acts are due to perform, giving the event plenty of strength in depth.
They include Southamptonbased singer Charley Macaulay, who has already appeared at the Glastonbury and Isle of Wight festivals.
Ben Goddard and the Heartbeats will also be performing, having recently won the Road to Blissfields battle of the bands in Winchester.
Another group from the city, Scarlet Soho, is also due to perform. The electronic indie trio, who have been impressing crowds in Europe, will be making time in their schedule to play closer to home.
Southampton band ’Til Dusk, who supported Roger Daltrey at Broadlands in Romsey last summer, will also return to Alresford, having played the 2011 festival.
Another band offering a mixture of hard and melodic rock is Action Replay.
The bill also includes The Lost Souls Club, featuring Jon Tufnell and Simon Jackson, formerly of Southampton band Plastic Toys.
And two former members of Winchester rockers The Dionysus, Neil Grant and Ali Hamilton, will be back with their new band, Rivertone.
Surrey band Haydons Place will be crossing the border for the day, and guitar group Rattlewreck will also play.
Also confirmed are Basingstoke five-piece band Flash Fires and Southampton quintet The Stealers, with a blend of folk and rock.
Other acts include eightpiece band Bigtopp, along with Portsmouth rockers Kodiak Jack.
The one-day festival starts at 11am and will take place at Arlebury Park, having been staged at the Perins School playing fields in previous years.
