IT heralds the promise of new projects, outstanding British artists and a dazzling array of classical, jazz, world and folk music.

Turner Sims in Southampton has announced its exciting 2012/13 season which includes first-time visits from legendary flautist Sir James Galway, kora master Seckou Keita and pianist Mitsuko Uchida.

The prestigious concert venue is also welcoming back Paul Lewis who will perform a recital that embraces Schubert’s three final piano sonatas, along with guitarist John Williams and the Elias Quartet who will launch the venue’s first complete cycle of Beethoven string quartets for 30 years.

Additional season highlights include world premieres by composers Sally Beamish, James MacMillan and Dai Fujikura.

One of the most dazzling and recognised folk musicians of a generation, Eliza Carthy, will perform there, as will acclaimed cellist Matthew Barley and BBC Young Folk Award winner Tim van Eyken.
