HE’S following the flame around the South.

A proud Londoner, rapper Wretch 32 is spreading the Olympic message to the masses as he performs a series of concerts along the torch route.

He jokes: “I’m OK at football and I’d probably beat Usain Bolt in the 100 metres, but I’m injured so I’m just going to watch this time around. Maybe next time, give it four years and I should be all right I reckon!”

But, for now, the 27-year-old is sticking to the music he has become so renowned for since being nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2011 Poll last year, and is set to wow an audience of tens of thousands at Mayflower Park tomorrow night.

Expect a 30-minute showcase of new material as well as plenty of sing-a-long favourites including Traktor, Unorthodox and hits from the album Black and White.

“It’s a bit of a different audience for me and a short slot, but I’m going to cram as much great music as I can in and make sure everyone has fun.

“It was great looking out at the concert in Salisbury and seeing really old people out there. I thought they were going to tell me to pull up my trousers or something, but they seemed to get into it. As long as they have iTunes accounts!

“We just want to get everybody really excited about the Olympics and make everyone feel a part of it. I feel like so much has happened in London that there’s a bit of a stigma around it. So this is really our time to turn it around and show people what a great city and a great country this is.

“We’re going to have great fun and show them how to party. It’s a massive event and I’m sure it will be great fun for everyone.”

u Wretch 32 appears on stage at 6.10pm, ahead of the cauldron lighting ceremony at 6.50pm. The event also includes performances from the Rock Choir and Art Asia Dhol Drummers.
