DRAWING the Winchester Festival to a cultural close this weekend, Black Voices has forged its own dynamic way of distilling and presenting black music from a Caribbean, black British perspective.

Grounded in the black church, the group sings a capella, the repertoire ringing from gospel to spirituals, Caribbean to African, jazz and blues, and including both the sacred and the secular.

Expect music that energises, uplifts, challenges and entertains at the city’s United Church tomorrow night.

Members of the group will also be leading a two-session workshop for amateur singers who want to experience the joy of singing gospel during the day.
