THEY were the latest in a series of iconic soul bands to land at The Concorde.

And The Stylistics arrived in their own tour bus on a whistlestop tour of the United Kingdom, including London’s O2.

From Philadelphia, the legendary band had a remarkable ten straight top ten hits in the 1970s and includes original members Herbert Murrell and Airrion Love.

It did not take long to win over the packed Concorde audience and take them down memory lane when romantic soul anthems swept the floor at Saturday night discos.

The band’s trademark body swaying dance routine soon switched into top gear with the captivating Falling in Love With You.

It was closely followed by one of their greatest hits I’m Stone in Love With You, a spell-binding arrangement which has been covered by crooner Johnny Mathis.

It was just one of the many treats as The Stylistics opened a mouth-watering selection of musical goodies which included You Make Me Feel Brand New, Star On A TV Show and Sing Baby Sing.

Towards the end of their set they pulled up their stools and serenaded their fans but they were at their best when they pushed the stools into the wings and launched into fast moving numbers like Rockin’ Roll Baby.

Can’t Give You Anything But Love transformed everyone into dancing queens and kings as disco fever gripped The Concorde.

The Stylistics’ bus rolls into Ferneham Hall, Fareham on November 22 and Bournemouth Pavilion the following night.
