A STAR is born.

Much has been made of 18-year-old Chloe Howl this year.

The Berkshire-born starlet found herself on the revered BBC Sound of 2014 list and has a highly-anticipated debut on the way in June.

With praise coming her way by the bucket load, Southampton's own The Joiners managed to secure her for a one-off headline slot.

She graced the hallowed stage with confidence and aplomb beyond her young years, strutting around the stage like a true pop star.

Her vocals are incredible, too. Captivating and powerful, her style reminded me of a young Jessie J, but with the effortless grace of Kate Nash and the attitude of Lily Allen.

Stand out moments were the synth-heavy No Strings and the electro-charged new single Paper Heart.

Like Oasis, Radiohead and The Libertines who played at the Joiners before her, Chloe is likely to reap the rewards her talents deserve, and the Southampton crowd lapped up every moment of this rare treat.
