LIVELY five piece guitar band Dexters headlined an outstanding evening of indie rock and roll music.

The East London group were top of the bill at another formidable Club Psychedelia night at Lennon’s.

Strong beats, catchy hooks, intense drumming and big choruses are the trademarks of this band.

There were also terrific harmonies on the night to compliment lead singer Tom Rowlett’s booming voice.

Songs from their recent debut album, Shimmer Gold, sounded awesome when played live in such an intimate venue.

Tunes like The Hard Way, Start to Run and the outstanding Recover were all big hits with the Lennon’s crowd. The Dexters create their own wall of sound. Their songs are instantly recognisable.

The band laughed and smiled throughout the show. Rowlett, guitarists Chris Heggie and Ben Debo, bassist Jamie Harris and drummer Chris Mardon are clearly enjoying this 12 date tour. They seemed happy to be back in Southampton again.

Sub-headliners were fellow Londoners IC1s who ended their impressive set with a surprise stage invasion. Completing the memorable line-up were popular local favourites Stirling who played another assured session.

The Dexters stormed through their late night set with an urgency that their songs deserve. They left their fans wanting more and looking forward to the next time they return to Southampton.
